A New Yorker who was scammed from his victory of 5
million dollars back in 2006 is finally going to receive his money. Robert
Miles brought his ticket from a local convenience store back in 2006 as per
reports by Syracuse.com.
The two sons of the store owners convinced him that his
ticket was worth only 5000 dollars and they paid him 4000 for it. The brothers
didn’t claim the jackpot until 2012 and this led to an investigation because
their move looked suspicious.
After the brothers claimed the lottery, Miles came
forward as he wanted a part of the lottery too. The lottery officials have
filed an investigation because it is unusual that the brothers would wait for
such a long time before claiming their money.
Miles admitted in the court that he let the ticket slip
because he was a drug addict at that time and the addiction to crack cocaine
prevented him from taking any action. As per reports by Syracause.com, Miles is
extremely elated that he is finally getting back the money that he legally
deserves.
Andy Ashkar, one of the culprits in the case was recently
caught possessing stolen property with regards to a scam related to lottery
cases and has been sentenced to 25 years in prison. This incident shows that
not just turnkey casino but even in
the field of lottery and gambling, there are huge scam cases as people are
always looking to plunder money so that they can serve their own interests.
Thanks to the investigation, it looks likely that Miles will get has justified
amount.
