A recent
study conducted by Spectrum Gaming Capital showed that with the legalization of
online gambling in the US, the industry could generate $8.5 billion during its
first five years of operation. Furthermore, experts say that the US land based
gaming industry could become available in 18 American states during the
following 6 years.
In addition,
operators who will buy casino games for
online gambling sites and entrepreneurs who run land based gaming businesses
will not cannibalize each other as long as the regulatory framework encourages
both kinds of operations by creating alliances between the two. The types of
consumers who prefer land-based casinos are different from the ones who access
online casinos, so by linking these two, a synergy that will attract both of
these categories could be created.
New Jersey
was the first American state to consider combining online gambling with
brick-and-mortar casinos, for only operators who already run a land-based
casino are currently allowed to open internet gambling sites. CEO of Spectrum
Gaming Capital Robert Heller explained that New Jersey will thus have the
opportunity to promote both tourism and social interaction while also creating
job opportunities and potential revenue stream for the state’s coffers.
