Competitors Advantaged by Atlantic City Casinos’ Poor Results

Atlantic City, the US destination which not so long ago lured many gambling enthusiasts inside its casinos, is not so prosperous nowadays. This city was at its best in 2006, before the recession, when gaming revenues generated by casinos reached $5.2 billion. Since then, gambling establishments in the region did not even come close to collecting as much revenue as it did then. This comes as good news though for neighboring states, like Pennsylvania, which has managed to gain benefits from Atlantic City’s poor results and succeeded in becoming the second largest gaming and betting market in the US in 2012.
Analysts are explaining that Atlantic City may not revive in the near future, taking into consideration that several American states are starting to expand their gambling regimes.  Massachusetts, New York and Delaware are in the middle of various processes to develop new gambling establishments which will force Atlantic City to make big efforts in order to get ahead of the increasing competition.
Atlantic City only collected $3 billion in gross gaming revenues during the previous year, the lowest it has ever seen since 1991. Despite the fact that the land based industry is struggling with poor results, casinos in the region are starting to team up with casino software developmentcompanies in order to start online partnerships for New Jersey’s upcoming internet gambling industry, which could eventually revive the Atlantic City gambling market.
